In the steam room at the leisure centre:
Man to woman reading a book: “Is it a good steamy one?”
She ignored him and turned the page.
He tried again: “Or is it just hot and sticky?”
She put her finger on the page and looked up.
“No,” she said, “Just nice and violent.”

- I have been writing the beginnings of stories for years but have finally got round to finishing a few of them off. Some successes in competitions and anthologies have encouraged me to make some new beginnings and pursue their endings. I am now writing a novel.

Yeah, writing it down in the steam room was a bit tricky - luckily I had Memory Man with me and he remembered it word perfectly. Have discoverd that he is much better at picking up snatches of dialogue than me so I have officially appointed him as my 'interesting snippets' assistant and issued him with his very own notebook
